Gauhati University has officially released the notification for the Post Graduate Entrance Test (GU PGET) for the academic session. Eligible candidates can apply online for various postgraduate programs (MA, MSc, MCom, MTech, LLM, etc.) offered by the university campus as well as its affiliated colleges.
Important Dates
- Online Application Starts: June 6,
- Last Date to Apply Online: June 15, (11:59 PM)
- Admit Card Release Date: From June 20, onwards
- GU PGET Examination Dates: July 3, 4, and 5,
- Publication of Provisional Merit List: July 20,
- Admission to Traditional Programs: July 27,
- Admission to Interdisciplinary Programs: July 28,
- Commencement of PG Classes: August 5,
Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree/FYUGP in a relevant discipline from a recognized university.
- Credit Requirement: Most traditional programs require a minimum of 24 credits in the specific subject (Major/Honours/Minor/Regular course).
- Appearing Candidates: Students appearing in their final semester examinations are fully eligible to apply and sit for PGET. Provisional admission will be given subject to the submission of final mark sheets within seven days of their result declaration. Candidates with prior semester backlogs are also eligible to apply, provided they clear all requirements before final enrollment.
- Study Gap: Candidates with a study gap of more than 5 years from their qualifying degree are generally not eligible.
Application Fee Structure
The entrance fee varies depending on the number of programs selected:
- One Programme: ₹800
- Two Programmes: ₹1,600
- Three Programmes: ₹2,400
- Payment Mode: Online via Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
GU PGET Exam Pattern
- Mode of Exam: Offline (Pen & Paper, OMR-based)
- Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
- Total Questions: 100
- Duration: 2 Hours
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
How to Apply Online
- Head over to the official Gauhati University admission portal.
- Click on the PG Admission Application link.
- Complete your initial registration using a valid mobile number and email ID.
- Log in using your credentials and accurately fill out personal, contact, and academic details.
- Select your choice of preferred PG programs (up to one traditional and two interdisciplinary programs).
- Upload scanned copies of required documents (Passport photograph, Signature, and Educational certificates).
- Complete the process by paying the application fee through the online gateway.
- Submit the form and download the confirmation printout for future reference.
