Assam Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina Scheme: The Assam state government has launched the Assam Nijut Moina Scheme 2024, providing financial assistance to 10 lakh female citizens in Assam for higher education. The scheme covers school, graduation, and post-graduation, with eligibility criteria requiring online application on the official website.

Providing Financial Assistance as Admission Incentive to Girl Students under Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Aasoni who are enrolled in Govt. and Venture (as per Annexure-A and Annexure-B endosed) Educational Institutions in Higher Secondary First Year, Graduation (B.A./B.Sc/B.Com) First Year and PostGraduation (M.A./M.Sc/M.Com/B. Ed) First Year excluding Private Educational Institutions.
Aim of Assam Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Scheme
The Mulhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Scheme aims to achieve the following main objectives:
- To increase enrollment of girl students in Higher Education.
- To increase the percentage of girls educated beyond maficulation in Assam.
- To reduce dmpouts among girl students.
- To increase the overall GER of the State
- To eliminate the social evil of child marriage
Scope of Applicability: Assam Nijut Moina Scheme
- Financial Assistance as an Admission Incentive will be provided to Girl Students, who are enrolled in Golt. and venture (Annexure A and Annexure B enclosed) Educational Institutions in Higher Secondary Ftst Year, Graduation . . (B.A./B.Sc/B.Com) First Year and Post-Graduation (M.A./M.Sc/M.Com,/B. Ed) First Year, excluding those enrolled in private institutions.
- The MMNM beneficiaries are required to maintain discipline and adhere to all nrles and regulations set fonh by their respective institutes. This includes, but is not limited to attending dasses regularly, respecdng school property, following the instruction of teacherc and staff, and behaving respectfully towards peers and other personnels of the institute. Any violation of these nrles, such as engaging in disnlptive behavior, cheating, ragging, vandalism, or any form of misconduct, will result in withdrawing the benefit under MMNM.
- The girl students who receive scooter as part of the Banikanta Kakati Award under Pragyar Bharati Scheme, which is being implemented by Higher Education Departrnent, shall not be eligible for this scheme. However, if any girl opts out oI receivin8 the scooter, she can apply for the Nijut Moina scheme.
- The Higher Education Departrnent’s Mobility Grant scheme provides financial incentives to Postgraduate students admitted to State Universities, Govemment Colleges, Provincialized Colleges, and Govemment Model Colleges. The Scheme has now been merged with the Nijut Moina Scheme. There will be no separate Mobility grant Scheme henceforth.
Nijut Moina Scheme eligibility
- The incentive is meant for all eligible girl students domiciled in Assam, irespective of their economic status.
- Married girls will not be eligible for the scheme except those in the P,G, and B.Ed. category.
- In-service girls, admitted to B.Ed. course on deputation, will not be eligible for the scheme
- Daughtes of MinisterVMPs and MLAs are not eligible for the Nijut Moina scheme.
Amount to be provided to each girl students: Assam Nijut Moina Scheme
- Each eligible girl student e olled in Class Eleven will receive an incentive of Rs.1000/- per month for a maximum of ten months, for a total of Rs. 10,000/- per year.
- An incentive of Rs.1250/- per month for a maximum of ten months, resulting in a total Rs. 12,500 per year will be paid to each of the eligible girl students enrolled in Graduation First Year (B.A./B.Sc/B.Com).
- An incentive of Rs. 2500/- per month over a period of maximum up to ten months, resulting in a total Rs. 25,000 per year will be paid to each of the eligible girl students enrolled in Post-Graduation First year (M.A/M.Sc/M.Com/B. Ed).
- No incentive will be paid during summer vacation or any such vacation for more than one month.
- For lhe academic session 2024-25, the benefits can be availed for only I months
- The scheme will not be effective during the months of June and July every year.
Mode of application: Assam Nijut Moina Scheme
- The students will fill up a prescribed application form and submit the same to the respective institutions they are cunently enrolled in.
- The students are to ensue that the data given by them is correct and complete.
- The Registars/Principals will collect and verify the application forms through their respective ponals and submit the correct data for auto verification in the portal.
- From the second year onwards, there is no requirement for submitting an application. A certificate from the head of the institution, certifying the student’s continuity in the institution will be sufficient for availing benefits.
- All Head of the Institute shall notify One or Two Nodal Teachers for implementing MMNM Scheme in their respective institute.
- The guardians can choose as to whether their daughters will submit applications for availing the benefits provided under the scheme as some of them may not like to apply.
Mode of payment: Assam Nijut Moina Scheme
By monthly DBT system through bank account to each eligible girl student.
